Lemp Mansion, St. Louis
Built in the 1860s, the once-famous brewery turned inn, the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis, is allegedly haunted by several members of the Lemp family. Lemp Mansion witnessed many deaths, suicides and scandals. Because of the bloody history, restless spirits still inhabit the mansion. Guests report cold spots, electrical failures, a feeling of deep sorrow, tapping on their shoulders, and strange objects in their photos.
The Elms Hotel & Spa, Excelsior Springs
The Elms Hotel & Spa is known to be haunted by spirits that walk the halls and even hang out in the pool. Locals claim that ghosts were involved in one of the two fires that occurred at the hotel in 1898 and 1910. Guests have reported paranormal activity in the lap pool.
Pythian Castle, Springfield
Built by the Knights of Pythias as an orphanage in 1913, the castle was later owned by the U.S. military and also used as a site for prisoners of war. People have reported seeing floating orbs and hearing strange unexplained voices, especially in the basement.
Zombie Road, Wildwood
Located west of St. Louis, Zombie Road, also known as Al Foster Trail, 2.3 mile section of old railroad tracks is one of the largest Native American burial mounds. According to legends, the road is haunted by spectral American Indians and Confederate rebels, packs of child ghosts, and the tortured souls of working men killed in industrial accidents. Visitors have reported Shadowy figures and other non-human entities.
Rockcliffe Mansion, Hannibal
Built in 1898 , Rockcliffe Mansion is said to be haunted by owner John J. Cruikshank Jr.
Visitors reported ghostly occurrences such as slamming the door, the smell of cigars and failure of electrical equipment with no reasons.
Union Station, Kansas City
Built in 1914, Kansas City train station is allegedly haunted by woman in a black dress walking down the stairs, lady in white, well-dressed man standing under the clock, gangster Frank Nash and apparitions of travelers with suitcases wandering the halls. There have been multiple stories of deaths in and around the building including the Union Station massacre.
Diamonds restaurant, Villa Ridge
The old Diamonds Restaurant, now named the Tri-County Restaurant, on old Route 66 in Villa Ridge, has had its share of tragic moments throughout its past. Staff have experienced the ghost of someone tapping them on the shoulder when using the restroom, and of children panicking when seeing what they describe as a blood monster on the stairway.
Stephens College, Columbia
Formerly Columbia Baptist Female College, Stephens College in Columbia, is believed to be haunted by Sarah Wheeler in Senior Hall, apparitions of the Blue Ladies at Pillsbury Hall and ghost of baby crying in Searcy Hall. It is said that Sarah hanged herself from the bell tower when her lover Isaac Johnson, Confederate soldier, was executed in the streets.
Glore Psychiatric Museum, St. Joseph
Glore Psychiatric Museum was once part of "State Lunatic Asylum No. 2," which opened in St. Joseph in 1874. The Museum is rumored to be a site of paranormal activity. The museum's considered one of the more unusual in the country, with exhibits of surgical tools, patient artwork, nurse uniforms, and even items removed from a patient’s stomach.
Missouri State Penitentiary, Jefferson City
Missouri State Penitentiary, the oldest continuously operating prison, located in Jefferson City, housed inmates for 168 years, until it was decommissioned in 2004. It is said that the spirits of prisoners still roam the halls of the state penitentiary.
